When a recipe calls for a new sauce or store bought ingredient, I will always find out whether I can make it at home. This saves both our health and money a lot.

This is my home made version of Enchilada Sauce.

Ingredients:

1 Tomato
1 Onion
1 Garlic clove
1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
2 Tbsp flour
1 tsp oil
1 tsp salt
½ tsp cumin powder
½ tsp red chili powder or ground Cayenne pepper
½ tsp dried oregano
½ tsp ground sage

Method:

1. Grind the Tomato, Onion, Garlic to a paste in a blender.
2. Heat the oil in a pan.
3. Add the flour and fry till pink.
4. Add the ground tomato mixture.
5. Mix in the Tomato paste, spice powder and herbs.
6. Bring to a boil.
